Stories surfaced last week that the
infamous "children overboard" affair whereby Prime Minister
Howard announced on October 9 last year, just days after calling an
election, that illegal immigrants moored off Christmas Island in a
rickety fishing boat, had thrown their children overboard, may not be
true. As a result, the media sharks have smelled blood in the water -
the blood of Prime Minister Howard, and they have gone into a absolute
feeding frenzy.
The Australian public has been blitzed
for the past week with the story of whether or not the illegals threw
their children overboard. Most people couldn't give a hoot over a
relatively minor incident that occurred four months ago.
Nevertheless the print media have devoted
headline stories and multiple pages to the story day after day, all
questioning the integrity of the Prime Minister. Not since the days of
the vicious media attacks on Pauline Hanson have we witnessed such a
media frenzy. The elites and the journalists in this country have a
simmering hatred of John Howard. They sense that this may be their
opportunity to tear him down.
The Australian public by and large is
heartily sick of hearing of the plights of illegal immigrants (or
"refugees" or "asylum seekers" as the bleeding-heart
media call them), particularly the one-sided story presented by the
media.
The media have been hell-bent on
sanctifying the illegals while playing down the stories of rioting,
fires and wanton destruction of premises, violence and sexual
abuse of children in detention centres by adult detainees.
In a rare report of the other side of the
story, radio station 6PR last week interviewed a reporter who had
recently visited the Port Hedland detention centre and spoken to a
senior female security person. This person told the reporter the
detainees of mainly Afghan, Iranian and Iraqi background treated the
security people "like dirt". She told of illegals arriving
with suitcases stuffed with up to US $100, 000 and videos showing how to
beat the Australian immigration system. In most cases all passports and
documents are destroyed before entering Australia.
The person spoke of illegals chewing the
inside of their mouths until they bled and the spitting blood on her.
She has been subjected to illegals masturbating in front of her, and
being pelted with faeces and urine.
One of the illegals
said to her "You need Saddam Hussein here. You Australians are
weak."
Australian News Commentary was
told a similar story by an SAS soldier who boarded the Tampa off
Christmas Island. He told of suitcases stuffed with money and people
wearing expensive Rolex watches. "They treated us like shit",
he told us. "If we had our way, we would have sent them all
back".
The majority of Australians would agree
with that soldier.
